State-of-the-art technology for making stain-free practice charcoal

Updated: Jul 2, 2022

-It is a little lighter in weight than the actual charcoal.

One of the most frequently asked questions we've received is about the weight of the dust-free practice charcoal.

The weight of a set for a thin wind furnace for Urasenke is 210g, for a thicker furnace 410g, and for Omotesenke 480g and 510g since the number of pieces for both are the same, plus the weight of the twigs charcoal with the non-slip rubber. It is a hard resin product with a solid texture.

I myself used to use practice charcoal hardened with resin, but it was too heavy and I often wished it were lighter. By drying charcoal well after washing, the weight can be surprisingly lightened. That said, the real thing produces fine charcoal dust. Rather than practicing with practice charcoal that is so heavy that you have to remove it, or with real charcoal that crumbles after repeated use, I thought it would be a good idea to make practice charcoal of this weight so that you can enjoy it casually without tiring your fingers.
